4 characteristics of a charismatic leaderAny person wanting to be a leader will need to have various skills, talents, and attributes. Different leaders all have different characteristics and a common thread among all great leaders would be their built in charisma. Unless a leader possesses a considerable amount of charisma, he or she will find it incredibly hard to lead effectively. It’s not really easy to overlook the characteristics of a charismatic leader. Consider this a great thing because once you recognize the signs of a good leader, you will be well on your way towards modeling those same traits.

What are the characteristics of a charismatic leader?

1) You’d notice a charismatic leader by his or her appearance. Does the individual seem like he or she is a leader? If no, he or she isn’t actually the right individual to follow. The proper appearance of a charismatic leader would be an individual who is well dressed, well groomed, and presents an appearance of being healthy. This does not mean you should put on the priciest clothes or you require the fittest body. This means you need to look the part — that you look your best and that people view you as a leader just by looking at how you present yourself.

2) Another classic attribute of a charismatic leader would be the ability to speak effectively. Be aware that charisma is about drawing people in. If you are able to speak clearly, concisely, and articulately, you can bring people in. It is a must for leaders to have exceptional speaking abilities. You have to be able to express your directives to your followers in a way that they can comprehend. This makes it possible for other people to follow your lead effectively. Nevertheless, one important thing has to be mentioned. Giving directives isn’t about shouting instructions or making demands. That’s about as uncharismatic of a method a leader might take.

3) Speaking skills go together with listening skills and if there was any characteristic that can be regarded as an attractive one in the eyes of others, it would be attentive listening. Many people become very self-absorbed that they tend to dominate talks and fail to listen to others. Others fail to get the chance to share their opinions. Charismatic leaders are mindful listeners, giving other individuals the opportunity to speak out. This shows others that they care and people tend to trust these leaders. If you have faith in a leader, you are more prepared to follow his or her directives. And no, you cannot fake your way through this. Either you cultivate great listening skills or you don’t. People can feel when somebody is genuinely listening to them and when somebody is merely faking it.

4) One thing you can say about charismatic leaders is that they are almost without exception positive people. Their conduct and words mirror their positive perspective, and they are constantly prepared to explain the benefits of their actions. Being optimistic has a motivational component to it and when you can encourage and motivate people, you exhibit charismatic leadership characteristics.

That’s it — the attributes that comprise a charismatic leader. There really isn’t any secret or magic formula to be one. These attributes are simply rooted in human interactions. Keep these attributes in mind and attempt to apply them in your everyday life. It won’t be long before you turn into a charismatic leader yourself.

3 things you can do today to improve your inner game for business Business success is directly tied into understanding that your main obstacle, the thing that stands between you and success, is really your mind and learning how to improve your inner game for business . This is true for me. It is an obstacle that I face even today, and have also battled throughout the years.

A lack of qualities, specifically in regard to business, is what keeps most people from finding success online or off-line. Training your mind to think in a successful manner, developing these habits, is what will lead you to success in your life and business. Progressing toward success, you will see your inadequacies. It will then be your choice to fix them, or fold. Habits like this are things that everyone can develop. You need to know that you can do this.

Let’s look at 3 things you can do today to improve your inner game for business

1     It might be difficult to admit that you have a (or more) weakness but it is important, eventually, to actually take a look there. One of the hardest tasks for everybody is to face our negatives or our weaknesses. Before you can succeed in business you need to understand your personal weaknesses. However, what you want to do is concentrate on your strengths. Work on limitations when you can but make sure that most of your work is done in your strengths. Make a list and write them all down, and then make a conscious effort to make your strengths even stronger. This will help you go farther and get closer to success than trying to spend all of your time fixing yourself.

2   If you find yourself unable to solve a specific problem in your business, approach it in a new way. It’s normal to be reduced to thinking about only a few possible solutions. Each person has just their own perspective but you know that there are lots of ways to look at things. This is when you need to employ leverage by calling in others in your business for some brainstorming. Your ego might make you hesitant to do this but this is a major disadvantage. Set up a meeting with the best minds you’ve got, explain the situation and ask them for whatever might come to mind. You’ll find that, often, the solution is right there.

3   Your business is something that you should never take for granted. Every aspect of it, including employees, are very important. Instead of fixing a problem in the early stages, many companies will ignore problems until something very bad occurs. All of us use computers in some way to run our business. This is a good example of what we are discussing. If you service your equipment regularly, the usual problems will arise. Most companies will consider this a discretionary expense, and therefore will not do it regularly. That’s fine until something critical goes down and production stops. So to avoid unexpected problems that may arise, every piece of critical equipment needs to be maintained regularly.

body_languageIt’s common knowledge that knowing how to read someone’s body language it’s gold and can benefit us in many ways. When it comes to relationships, by mirroring the body language of the person we talk to, we can easily establish a better rapport and communication. When implementing this knowledge in business the outcome of any interaction can turn into a successful one.

It has been proved that working on body language helped shy speakers transform into competent presenters, and we if you own a business, you know how important our presentation skills are.

 The question that arises is: how many of us are using body language to influence the way we feel about ourselves? We know that our minds change our bodies but it is also true that or bodies change our minds? Although, in my case was : I quit my job and I liked it, then I struggled until I figured my way out of the struggle and into the flow, I relate very much to Lilou Mace’s story. It reminds me that separation is just an illusion and we all are connected and the same, despite our uniqueness.
Opening your heart to receiving, in the most difficult times in your life is not easy and it takes both practice and courage. “How will I make the money to pay my bills if I follow my passion? “
Taking one step at the time takes lots of faith. There is this saying that goes around (I actually read it on FB , on John Assaraf’s fan page just the other day)  : “People will only pay the price of change when the price of staying the same is greater”.
Are you willing to pay this price?

Procrastination is putting off until later what we believe we should do now.
We avoid doing some tasks because taking action will cause us a certain amount of pain.

People procrastinate for different reasons.

Dr Ferrari, associate professor of psychology at De Paul University in Chicago -identifies three basic types of procrastinators:

Types of procrastinators

•Arousal types, or thrill-seekers, who wait to the last minute for the euphoric rush.

procrastinators

•Avoiders, who may be avoiding fear of failure or even fear of success, but in either case are very concerned with what others think of them; they would rather have others think they lack effort than ability.

•Decisional procrastinators, who cannot make a decision. Not making a decision absolves procrastinators of responsibility for the outcome of events.

Understanding the causes of procrastination

Have you ever wondered do people procrastinate?

Some of the most common reasons are :

-Fear of success or  failure. Sometimes we’re afraid we’ll fail. Sometimes we’re subconsciously afraid we’ll succeed;

-Task seems to be overwhelming and don’t feel like we have all the resources to get it done;

-Lack of motivation in doing a task is a common reason for procrastination. For  example : changing the oil in the car, or doing taxes;

-Laziness;

-Lack of focus and fatigue;

-Perfectionism;

-Not knowing where to start and how to do it;

-Lack of interest.

How to beat procrastination- help tips

-Identify your peak hour. We all have a time of day when we are naturally more alert than others. Determine what that time is for you and set appointments to do work that requires concentration during that time window.

Tell people in advance about your intention on completing a certain task. This way you may feel pressured and pushed to finish that task in time in order to avoid embarrassment

Write down a smart to-do list every day and start your day with the task you feel more overwhelmed about. This way you get the heavy stuff done first and the rest of the day feels much easier and fun.

Get motivated : write down a list of goals to accomplish in a week, 6 months, one year, 5 years. Look every day at those goals and think of how procrastination may keep you from reaching those goals.

Break a big task in few smaller tasks. This way you avoid feeling overwhelmed. Start getting done the small tasks.

-Have fun in doing your task. For example, right now , in writing this article I use a mind map and it’s coloured, and I can drag things around and I can play with my ideas and it’s fun. Writing this article does not seem overwhelming at all.

how to stop sprocrastination mind map

Pay for some blocking software. This way you’ll have software keeping you on the track with your tasks. However, keep in mind that anything you install can be overridden/turned off/uninstalled by you. There’s no software substitute for self-discipline.

What are some anti procrastination apps to help you focus and work productively

I like a timer software applications called Focus Booster ( a free desktop and web application). It looks like in the picture below and you can find it here http://www.focusboosterapp.com/

focus booster

Focus Booster uses ‘The Pomodoro Technique’, a time management method that “uses a timer to break down periods of work into 25-minute intervals (referred to as “pomodoros”) separated by breaks and is based on the idea that frequent breaks can improve mental agilityWhen your break ends, it plays a different notification.

-Another clever little app called it’s called Obtract.- Obtract is a Mac app. It monitors the applications you’re using, and the websites you visit. And if it catches you doing something unproductive, it makes you pay by forcing you to solve a maze in order to ‘buy’ that unproductive time.Obtract_anti_procrastination_app

-There are software programs available for purchase as well ,like Concentrate for Macs and Freedom for Macs and PCs

6 super- ways to avoid procrastination

  1. Prioritize daily tasks – When you prioritize, you make sure you accomplish the most important tasks first.

  2. Keep a day planner. Lock out the time you need to accomplish a certain task.

  3. Do that ‘have to’ job first, get the worst out of your way first.

  4. Make a list every morning of what you need to accomplish every day.

  5. Reward yourself for accomplishing tasks.

  6. At the end of the day write down what you have accomplished. This can be rewarding on itself . Plus in time you may always  look for which ways worked best for you to avoid procrastination.

My biggest challenge is to figure out how to  manage all my social media sites daily so I could spend more time on my business.

Is this you?

If your answer is yes,  today I’m going to talk about 2 tools I like and  recommend you use to manage all your social media profiles  in just a few minutes a day. Using these tools you’ll save tons of time in dealing with all your socia media profiles.

How do you do that ?

 You  schedule questions, conversation prompts and educational content ahead of time.  Smart, right?

You schedule questions, conversation prompts and educational content ahead of time….

 So here are the 2 tools I’m talking about:

1. Hootsuite (https://hootsuite.com)

2. Buffer (https://bufferapp.com )

Although I use both of them, I must say, my favorite is Hootsuite . Let’s talk a bit about Hootsuite:

1)  1) Hootsuite allows you to send updates to all of your social networks  at the same time. ( Simply write the update, choose the networks, set the time you want  for your update to be sent ( you have 3 options : “send now”, “autoschedule for optimum impact”  or you can choose a precise time using the mini calendar included).

Here is a printscreen I took so you’ll get a better understanding of what I’m saying.

 social media manager platform

What I like the most when using Hootsuite is that the dashboard allows you to see all of your social media profiles, divided into various tabs, all on one screen and that’s why updating and monitoring multiple profiles at once becomes very, very easy.

I should also mention that Hootsuite is free for up to 5 social media profiles.  At this time, for only $5.99  you can add up to 50 profiles, get better analytics, RSS feeds and  other cool features.

2   2) Buffer : on the free plan, you can only connect one of each social profile– one Twitter, one Facebook, one LinkedIn, etc. If you want to add a second account  from the same social network ( let’s say you’ve added your Facebook profile and now you want to add your FB page)  for $10/month you can add up to 12 profiles. Here is the print screen I took, however  Buffer only allows you to see the update you’re about to share now, schedule  or buffer.

buffer, social media management platform, social media marketing made easy

Question : What platforms do you use to manage your social media profiles? Share with us please, in the comments below, I’d love to know. 😉

money magnetWhen I mentor my entrepreneur clients, most of them are surprised to discover that I spend just as much time coaching on a correct money mindset as I do on sound business strategies.

How you think and feel about money is even more important than how you earn it. But if you don’t think and feel wealthy, then you’ll never get to that point.

So you need to think rich, feel rich, and take rich actions to achieve the lifestyle you want and to support the causes (and people) you care about.

Here are seven simple mantras that can help you infuse a healthy mindset into your life and your business.

1. “I am responsible for my financial success, and no one else.
Your financial situation is a direct result of your own actions. If you find yourself blaming other people or circumstances, you are not accepting responsibility. Even worse, you are buying into the notion that you are powerless to change your circumstances. We can’t always control our circumstances. But we can very well control how we respond to them. Wealthy people create their own lives – it doesn’t just happen for them. You need to believe that, too.

2. “I learn about making money from wealthy people.
If you take advice from someone who is struggling to make ends meet, then chances are, you may find yourself in that situation, too. If, on the other hand, you look to successful mentors who have proven they know how to make and manage their money, then you‘re more likely rise to their level. (So next time your well-meaning Uncle Fred tells you to give up on your business, take into account his OWN state of finances!)

3. “I take good care of my money.”
If you can’t manage the money you have, it’s unlikely the universe will bring you more. Your money management system doesn’t have to be complicated—a notebook, pen, and calculator can even get you started. Ignoring your bills won’t help you achieve wealth. But listen up: What you focus on expands, so I don’t want you to focus on your debt! Set up and honor a plan to pay off your debts and bills, but put your focus on creating a positive and healthy net worth. I myself was in tons of debt when I started my first business—so much so that I had to get some credit counseling. It was scary to sit down and add it all up, but awareness was the first step, and with some care, it will only get better from there.

4. “I see opportunities in everything.
While most people see roadblocks and risks every day that prevent them from taking action or doing anything to change their lives, wealthy people see the opportunities. Successful companies like Disney and Trader Joe’s (one of my favorite markets) have flourished during difficult economic times, and you can, too, if you know how to recognize opportunities. As entrepreneurs, we’re blessed to be able to make changes quickly to adjust to market conditions.

When I had the opportunity not just once but twice to spend time with Sir Richard Branson on his private island in BVI, my biggest takeaway was that I never once heard him say “Oh we can’t do that.” He listened to all ideas around him with great interest and consideration. He is about nothing but possibility. It was purely magical to be around him! I left feeling that anything was possible for me, too.

5. “I play to win big.
Small thinking leads to small bank accounts. Big thinking leads to big money. Instead of making it your goal to earn a “comfortable” living, get out of your comfort zone and set higher goals for yourself. I see many women get stuck at one of two revenue levels in their business. One is under $100K. The other is under $300K.

These levels are fine and good for a steady income, but I challenge you to look for ways to leverage what you have to dramatically increase those numbers… without working any harder! There is always a way. And those big leaps in income are what will truly change your life, influence your family’s life, and enable you to make an impact in this lifetime in a powerful way.

6. “I love to receive–especially money.”
Learning to accept gifts can help you learn to accept money. Even something small like learning to accept compliments from others is a good start. Never apologize for your pricing. Know what you are worth, charge what you know you are worth, and don’t be shy about asking for payment. You deserve to be paid upfront or at least on time.

7. “I enjoy giving money to others.
Tithing–the act of giving back to worthy people and organizations–is an important part of the money cycle. When I said “yes” to the opportunity to be featured on ABC’s Secret Millionaire, I was stepping out of my comfort zone in a big way. The experience took me out of my element physically, emotionally, and financially (I gave away $100,000 to some worthy causes and people). I also signed a huge contract that made it clear it was not even guaranteed the show would air afterwards! But, I knew that money would always flow into my life, and I was ready to give back in a big way. When you can share your wealth with others, you’ve truly freed yourself from letting money limit you.

One of my original business mentors, Dan Kennedy, taught me that the “hole” you invest through, spend through, and give through, is the same hole you receive through. If you invest and give small, you get small. Start looking for ways to invest in yourself and your business, and ways to give back at the same time. It’s one of the biggest blessings we have as entrepreneurs!

My video tip for you today is all about the importance of creating your signature system – and how to get started today.

Your signature system is really key to multiplying your business over and over. It becomes the basis for your bootcamp, three-day workshop, even the book you’ve always wanted to write.

I’ve done this with my own Client Attraction signature system and I teach my Platinum and private level clients to do the same in order to leverage their business.

So, where do you even start?

Your signature system is actually rather easy to put together.

You want to start by getting everything you know about your system down on paper.

Document your unique process from start to finish – and don’t worry so much if you’re leaving something out.

Your signature system brings your clients in so you can always give them more later.

Your Client Attraction Assignment

Write down all the key components. Use bullet points. Include everything you know for sure about your system. Brainstorm.
Group all your bullet points into categories. Then give each category a label.
Put your categories in logical, chronological order. You want them to follow a step-by-step order that makes sense to the user.
Lastly, give your system a results-focused title. And Voila! You’ve got your Signature System.

An effective signature system is the basis for multiplying your business in so many ways. It’s an essential tool for multiplying your business to that next BIG level. Have some fun with it – the key is to just get it done.
